Director of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery

Our client, a growing banking institution, is seeking a Director of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BC/DR) to spearhead the organization's resilience initiatives. This leadership role focuses on ensuring the bank's operational preparedness, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation. The Director will lead a team of BC/DR professionals, manage enterprise-wide continuity strategies, and act as a key liaison across departments and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive BC/DR vision and strategy in collaboration with senior leadership.
• Oversee the BC/DR program's success, defining measurable performance metrics and tracking effectiveness.
• Lead and mentor a team of BC/DR professionals, fostering professional growth and ensuring program objectives are met.
• Assess the bank's resiliency and risk posture, identifying vulnerabilities and creating remediation strategies.
• Design and refine policies, procedures, and plans to align with regulatory requirements and mitigate risks.
• Partner with internal and external stakeholders to enhance resiliency plans and integrate innovative practices.
• Guide retail banking centers and departments through:
• Conducting Business Impact Analyses (BIA) to evaluate potential disruptions.
• Identifying critical, time-sensitive functions.
• Developing and documenting business continuity plans.
• Manage and document testing of continuity, disaster recovery, and pandemic response plans.
• Provide employee training and awareness programs to build a culture of preparedness.
• Serve as Incident Commander during business disruptions, coordinating responses and recovery efforts.
• Ensure all disaster recovery and business continuity activities comply with FFIEC guidance and regulatory standards.
• Maintain adherence to BSA/AML/CFT and sanctions policies through timely training and compliance.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, business administration, or a related field; master's degree preferred.
• 8+ years in business continuity, disaster recovery, or technology leadership roles, ideally within the financial services sector.
• Expertise in BC/DR principles, FFIEC guidelines, and IT systems supporting failover and recovery operations.
• Advanced strategic thinking, analytical, and communication skills, with experience collaborating with senior executives.
• CBCP, MBCP, or equivalent certification required.

This role offers the opportunity to lead a critical function, ensuring the bank's resilience and readiness for future challenges. This role is hybrid in Houston, TX.
