Director of Third-Party Risk Management
Our client, a rapidly growing bank, is seeking an experienced Director of Third-Party Risk Management to lead and elevate its third-party risk management program. This essential leadership position is responsible for overseeing vendor and service provider relationships, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and implementing industry best practices to enhance operational resilience and risk mitigation. The Director will collaborate with senior leadership, risk committees, and key stakeholders to drive a robust risk management strategy while supporting the bank's growth.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve the bank's third-party risk management program.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory guidance (e.g., FDIC, OCC, FFIEC, TXDOB) and align practices with industry standards.
- Conduct and oversee risk assessments for new and existing third-party relationships, focusing on operational, compliance, reputational, and cybersecurity risks.
- Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Information Security, and other teams to identify and mitigate risks effectively.
- Lead cross-functional efforts to ensure proper risk management throughout the third-party lifecycle.
- Oversee contract reviews to include essential risk provisions, such as service-level agreements and cybersecurity requirements.
- Provide strategic direction to strengthen third-party resilience and address emerging risks.
- Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports on third-party risk to senior management, risk committees, and the Board of Directors.
- Act as the primary liaison for regulatory exams and audits involving third-party risk management.
- Conduct training programs to increase awareness and adherence to TPRM policies across the organization.
- Promote a proactive risk management culture and ensure compliance with BSA/AML/CFT and Sanctions requirements through timely training and policy adherence.
Requirements
- 10+ years in third-party risk management, vendor management, or a similar role, preferably within a bank with assets exceeding $10 billion.
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CRMA, CTPRP, CRVPM, CISSP) strongly preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of third-party risk management frameworks and regulatory guidelines (FDIC, OCC, FFIEC, TXDOB).
- Proven ability to navigate regulatory exams and interact with regulators.
- Exceptional communication and presentation abilities, with experience engaging senior management and boards of directors.
- Strong collaboration skills to work across multiple departments and with external stakeholders.
Strategic mindset with the ability to adapt to a changing risk environment.
This hybrid position is based in Houston, TX. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.
