PHP Developer

Our client, an insurance company, is looking for an experienced PHP Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications and backend services. This role involves building high-performance APIs, integrating third-party services, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and secure software solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and deploy high-quality PHP-based applications and APIs
• Maintain and enhance existing applications, ensuring performance, stability, and security
• Write clean, reusable, and well-documented code following best practices and coding standards
• Integrate third-party APIs, databases, and cloud services
• Collaborate with front-end developers, DevOps, and product teams to deliver end-to-end solutions
• Optimize application performance and troubleshoot issues in production environments
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to architectural decisions
• Implement data security and access control best practices
• Contribute to process improvements and automation where possible

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in PHP development (Laravel, Symfony, or similar frameworks)
• Strong understanding of OOP, MVC architecture, and RESTful API design
• Hands-on experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL databases
• Proficient in version control (Git) and CI/CD workflows
• Familiarity with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript
• Experience working with Linux-based environments
• Strong problem-solving, debugging, and optimization skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively in an agile team environment

• Experience with microservices architecture or containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Knowledge of AWS, Azure, or other cloud platforms
• Background in performance tuning and security best practices
• Experience with API authentication (OAuth2, JWT)

This role is onsite 5 days per week in central Houston, TX.
