Sr. Cybersecurity Engineer

Our client, a well-established Houston-based manufacturing company, is expanding its security team and looking for a hands-on Sr. Cybersecurity Engineer to help drive its Zero Trust roadmap forward. This is a generalist role on a small security team, ideal for someone who wants ownership across vulnerability management, security engineering, incident response, and identity, rather than a narrow lane.

Responsibilities

• Support and execute cybersecurity initiatives across vulnerability management, data security, and identity improvements as directed by leadership

• Own remediation efforts tied to vulnerability scans, penetration tests, and security assessments, coordinating with internal teams to close findings on time

• Build, implement, and tune security controls across endpoint, identity, cloud, and network environments

• Monitor and triage alerts in a modern detection and response environment, making risk-based calls and escalating alongside managed security partners

• Take part in incident response, including on-call rotation, investigations, containment, recovery, and keeping playbooks current

• Document and mature security processes and SOPs to scale operational effectiveness

• Partner with IT, application teams, and business units to bake security into systems and workflows

• Support audit and compliance efforts with external partners, providing technical documentation and evidence as needed

• Evaluate emerging and existing technologies against security best practices and internal standards

• Flag gaps and drive execution on broader security strategy

• Report on security posture, risk, and progress to leadership

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or equivalent experience

• 5+ years of progressive experience in cybersecurity or security engineering

• Hands-on exposure across multiple security domains: endpoint security, identity and access management, vulnerability management, cloud security, network security

• Working knowledge of XDR/EDR, SIEM, and identity protocols such as SAML, OAuth, and OpenID

• Foundational understanding of cloud security tooling (CNAPP, CSPM, CASB)

• Familiarity with security frameworks like NIST CSF, ISO 27001, or SOC 2

• Comfortable scripting or querying with PowerShell, Python, or KQL

• Strong communicator across technical and non-technical audiences, with the ability to manage competing priorities independently

Certifications that stand out (not required, but a plus): CISSP, Security+, AZ-500, SC-300, SC-200, CySA+, CCSP
