Description:
A Houston-area industrial distribution company serving the energy sector is looking for a Network Administrator to help design, configure, and maintain the company's network infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Support, troubleshoot, and tune performance across data networks at all company locations, covering SD-WAN, WAN, LAN, VPN, and wireless environments
- Recommend network improvements, optimization strategies, and deployment plans for new and existing sites
- Implement, maintain, and troubleshoot network components to maximize uptime and manage refresh cycles
- Assist with telecommunication vendor management and act as a point of contact when network issues arise
- Apply security best practices in partnership with the security team to reduce vulnerabilities
- Produce network documentation and provide training and guidance to team members
- Bring cloud and virtual networking knowledge to help scale cloud-based systems
- Serve as a backup resource for Windows infrastructure, including troubleshooting DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy issues
- Configure switches, monitor WAN performance, and support the buildout of new site infrastructure
- Act as an escalation point for network related issues raised by other team members
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer engineering, cybersecurity, or a related field
- 3+ years of related network administration experience
- Cisco Certified Network Associate certification or CISSP
- Additional certifications considered in place of degree or experience requirements, such as MCSE, PCNSA, or CISSP
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and HTTP protocols
- Hands on experience with routing and switching
- Experience with virtualization networking in VMware and Azure environments
- Working knowledge of Windows domain administration, including Active Directory, Group Policy, Sites and Services, DNS, and DHCP
- Familiarity with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools such as SolarWinds, Wireshark, PowerShell, Cisco IOS, and Ubiquiti
- Understanding of structured cabling standards for fiber and copper, along with site cabling design
- Cloud platform experience; AWS or Azure a plus
- Knowledge of SD-WAN and remote access technologies; VeloCloud experience a plus
- Exposure to Citrix Cloud DaaS a plus
- Exposure to Citrix ADC/NetScaler a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
