Job Detail: Sr. Landman

Description:

A private energy investment firm is adding an experienced Senior Landman to its Dallas team as it continues to expand its mineral and royalty portfolio across the Lower 48.

This is a hands-on opportunity for someone with a strong technical land background who wants greater ownership and visibility within a growing investment platform. The position will sit close to the investment and technical teams and have responsibility across both the existing portfolio and new acquisition activity.

What You'll Do

Own the land side of the existing portfolio

• Manage land and ownership matters across a growing mineral and royalty asset base

• Review title, ownership, division orders and supporting land documentation

• Calculate and validate NRI across producing and newly drilled wells

• Work directly with operators to address ownership, payment and documentation issues

• Monitor changes affecting mineral ownership and ensure internal records remain accurate

Provide technical land expertise

• Work across fee, state and federal acreage

• Interpret conveyances, title documents and complex ownership structures

• Understand pooling, unitization, production allocation and related land matters

• Utilize state, federal and public databases to research ownership and support land decisions

• Coordinate with outside landmen, attorneys and other third-party resources when additional title work is required

Support investment activity

• Partner with the acquisitions team on title and ownership diligence

• Provide wellbore NRI calculations and land analysis during underwriting

• Help evaluate land-related issues before capital is deployed

• Assist with ownership transfers, post-closing work and integration of newly acquired assets

• Help oversee larger outsourced title projects and incorporate resulting information into the firm's systems

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of oil & gas land experience and can operate independently without requiring extensive technical training.

Relevant backgrounds could include an E&P operator, mineral and royalty company, energy investment platform, or land services organization.

Strong candidates should bring experience with:

• Oil & Gas title and mineral ownership

• Fee, state and/or federal lands

• Division orders and revenue interests

• Wellbore NRI calculations

• Pooling and unitization concepts

• Conveyances and ownership documentation

• Land and regulatory research

• Land/revenue software and modern data systems

A bachelor's degree is required, with Energy Management, Petroleum Land Management or a related discipline preferred.
